Medium Voltage Resonant DC-DC Converter for Solid-State Transformers in Traction

Abstract: In the Solid-State Transformer voltage adaptation and isolation is performed by a high power DC-DC converter. It operated in the medium frequency range, hence reduction in size and weight of the converter’s reactive components. We proposes a resonant DC-DC converter which is suitable for solid state transformer in traction.This DC-DC converter implementation of the SST concept, given its operation at medium frequency together with the direct connection to medium voltage. This combination demands the utilization of DC-DC converter to operate in soft-switching mode.IGBT switches are used as power devices, zero-current switching modulation schemes become highly attractive and often mandatory in order to achieve the efficiency goals. To design and simulate the proposed model in MATLAB/ Simulink platform.
